Kyde’s 50 — Official Rules

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These rules govern Kyde’s 50 (the “Challenge”) run by Kyde Inc (“Kyde”, “we”). By opting in you agree to them, and to the Kyde Terms & Conditions. Where the two disagree, these rules win for the Challenge.

1. Dates

The Challenge runs for 50 days, from Thursday, November 12, 2026 to Thursday, December 31, 2026, each day measured in your own local time zone as set on your device when the run is recorded. A day is a calendar day from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm.

Opt in between November 1, 2026 and November 18, 2026. Every day from November 12 counts whatever day you opt in, so a runner who opts in on November 16 must already have a mile on each of November 12, 13, 14 and 15 to still be in. After November 18, 2026 no new entries are accepted.

2. Who can take part

  • Anyone with access to the Kyde app, as a paying member or on a free trial, can opt in from the Challenge card in the app. Opting in is one tap and cannot be done for someone else.
  • Keeping your pot. Your pot counts from day one. If you're on a trial, subscribe before it ends to keep it. A runner whose trial ends without a subscription can no longer record runs, so their entry ends that day and their pot is forfeited. A member whose subscription ends during the Challenge is out from the first day without access, and their pot is forfeited the same way.
  • Runners must be at least 18 years old and live somewhere the Kyde app is available. Kyde employees and contractors may take part but are not eligible for the payout.
  • One Kyde account per runner. The same person cannot opt in twice under different emails.

3. What counts as a day

  • One mile, recorded in Kyde. A day is complete when the distance of your completed sessions recorded with the Kyde app on that calendar day adds up to at least one mile (1.609 km), whatever unit you display. One session or several. Running and walking both count; pace does not matter.
  • Treadmill sessions count. Record the session in Kyde and enter the distance from the treadmill display afterwards in the app. Keep a photo of the display: we may ask for it before counting the day. A treadmill day is subject to the same review as any other (section 5).
  • Imports do not count. A session recorded with the Kyde app on your phone, or with the Kyde watch app, counts. A workout recorded in another app or on another watch and imported into Kyde afterwards, from Strava, Apple Health, Garmin Connect or anywhere else, does not. The session has to be started and finished with Kyde.
  • A session recorded in Kyde that is later deleted no longer counts. A day is judged after it ends; a session that reaches Kyde late, for example after a lost connection, is counted when it arrives.

4. Elimination

Miss a day and you’re out. A calendar day with less than one mile recorded in Kyde ends your entry. There are no grace days, no make-up days and no re-entry into this Challenge. The app tells you the morning after.

A day that does not count because a session was removed under section 5 is a missed day.

5. Fair play

The Challenge rewards real miles. Kyde reviews sessions, and may exclude any session or runner that, in our reasonable judgement, was not genuine. Reviews look at things like pace, heart rate, timing, GPS and device data, treadmill entries against the session’s duration, and how a session compares with the runner’s own history. Examples of what we exclude include, without limitation:

  • Sessions recorded while in a vehicle, on a bike, or otherwise not on foot.
  • Paces or distances that are not plausible for the runner or for a human.
  • A treadmill distance that the session’s duration, speed or heart rate do not support.
  • Spoofed, edited or replayed GPS data, or altered device data.
  • The same session recorded more than once, or on more than one account.
  • Sharing an account, or recording a mile on someone else’s behalf.

We may ask a runner for more information about a session before counting it, and may pause an entry while we look. Kyde’s decisions on counting, exclusions and disqualification are final.

6. Your pot and the payout

  • $2 a day. Every day you complete, Kyde adds $2 to your own pot. The pot is Kyde’s money, not yours, until the Challenge ends; it is not a deposit and nothing is charged to you.
  • $100 to every finisher. A runner who completes all 50 days, with every day counted under these rules, is a finisher and is paid their full pot, $100. There is no cap on the number of finishers and no split: every finisher is paid in full.
  • Finishers are confirmed in the first week of January, after the review in section 5, and contacted at the email on their Kyde account. Payment is made in January 2027 by a method Kyde chooses, such as PayPal, Venmo or a prepaid card, to the runner whose account finished. A payout that is unclaimed 30 days after we contact the finisher may be forfeited.
  • The payout cannot be transferred. Any taxes on it are the finisher’s responsibility.
  • Out means no payout. A runner who misses a day, loses access or leaves the Challenge is not paid any part of their pot. The pot is all or nothing: the full $100 for 50 days, or nothing.

7. Your data

The Challenge card in the app shows you your own days, streak and pot. Kyde may show the number of runners still in to everyone; it does not publish your name or your days without your say-so. Kyde uses run data from the Challenge as described in our Privacy Policy. You can leave the Challenge at any time from the app; a pot you leave behind is not paid, as in section 6.

8. Running safely

You run and walk at your own risk. A mile a day for 50 days is a real load; if you are unwell or injured, stop, and talk to a doctor before carrying on. Kyde is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from taking part in the Challenge.

9. Changes and cancellation

Kyde may change these rules, the dates or the payout, or cancel the Challenge, if it becomes necessary for reasons outside our reasonable control or to keep the Challenge fair. We will announce any change in the app and on this page. If the Challenge is cancelled, every runner still in is paid the pot they have earned to that day.
