October Run Club Challenge — Official Rules
Last updated: September 4, 2026
These rules govern the October Run Club Challenge (the “Challenge”) run by Kyde Inc (“Kyde”, “we”). By signing a club up or opting in as a runner you agree to them, and to the Kyde Terms & Conditions. Where the two disagree, these rules win for the Challenge.
1. Dates
The Challenge runs from 12:00 am on October 1, 2026 to 11:59 pm on October 31, 2026, in each club’s local time. Standings freeze at the end of October 31; miles recorded after that do not count.
Entries close October 7. A club must be signed up, and every runner on it opted in, by 11:59 pm on October 7, 2026 in the club’s local time. A club can join as late as October 7 and have its runners opt in the same day. After that the field is locked: no new clubs, no new runners, and no changes to teams. Miles count from the moment a runner opts in.
2. Who can take part
- A club takes part by signing up on kyde.ai/runclubs (or through the Kyde team) and receiving its club code. The person who redeems the owner code is the club’s owner for the Challenge.
- A runner takes part by joining the club in the Kyde app and opting into the Challenge from the club. Opting in is one tap and cannot be done for someone else.
- Runners must be at least 18 years old and live somewhere the Kyde app is available. Kyde employees and contractors may take part but are not eligible for prizes.
- One runner, one club, one team. When a runner opts in they choose one club, and the owner places them on one team. They cannot join another club, or a second team in the same club, for the rest of the Challenge, and their miles count for that one team only. One Kyde account per runner: the same person cannot opt in twice under different emails.
3. How scoring works
- Miles tracked on Kyde. A runner’s score is the total distance of their completed runs recorded live in the Kyde app from the moment they opted in, in miles, whatever unit they display. A run counts once. Runs recorded in other apps, imported afterwards, or entered by hand do not count.
- Club day bonus. Miles run on a club day count 1.5× for a runner who checked in at the club’s meeting spot that day. Check-in is available from one hour before the club’s start time to two hours after, within 250 metres of the spot. The bonus applies to every run that runner completes on that calendar day. An owner may mark a runner present by hand; those marks are recorded as manual and may be reviewed.
- Teams. A team is 2 to 20 runners from one club. Team scores are the sum of member scores, with no averaging. A club with more than 20 runners may enter more than one team. The owner assigns runners to teams until entries close on October 7; after that, rosters are locked.
- Standings. Teams are ranked by score. Ties are broken by number of club-day check-ins, then by earlier opt-in. Standings update at least daily in the app and show the time of the last update. The frozen standings at the end of October 31 are the final result.
- Treadmill runs count when recorded live in the Kyde app, and are subject to the same review as every other run (section 4). Distance entered by hand after the fact does not count.
4. Fair play
The Challenge rewards real running. Kyde reviews runs, and may exclude any run, runner, team or club that, in our reasonable judgement, was not genuine or was designed to game the scoring. Reviews look at things like pace, heart rate, timing, GPS and device data, and how a run compares with the runner’s own history. Examples of what we exclude include, without limitation:
- Runs recorded while in a vehicle, on a bike, or otherwise not on foot.
- Paces or distances that are not plausible for the runner or for a human.
- Treadmill runs whose speed, duration or heart rate do not add up.
- Spoofed, edited or replayed GPS data, or altered device data.
- The same run recorded more than once, or on more than one account.
- Sharing an account, or running on someone else’s behalf.
- Check-ins from somewhere other than the meeting spot, or manual marks for runners who were not there.
- Adding runners to a team who are not genuine members of the club.
We may ask a runner or owner for more information about a run before counting it, and may pause a score while we look. Kyde’s decisions on scoring, exclusions and disqualification are final.
5. Prizes
Prizes are awarded from the final standings and announced by the Kyde team within 7 days of the end of the Challenge. Winners are contacted at the email on their Kyde account.
Grand prize — the winning team
- Five wearables (Garmin or Whoop)
- Three months of Kyde free for everyone on the team
- A free Barry's class for everyone on the team
- The owner's next race entry covered — marathon, half marathon or HYROX — up to $300
Other prizes
- Best attendance: the club with the highest club-day check-in rate wins a prize, to be announced.
- More prizes to come as clubs sign up.
Prize conditions
- Wearables: five devices, Garmin or Whoop, model chosen by Kyde. How the team shares them is the team’s call; Kyde ships to the club owner.
- Race entry: Kyde reimburses the winning owner’s entry fee for one marathon, half marathon or HYROX event, up to $300, on proof of registration for an event taking place within 12 months of the Challenge ending. Travel, accommodation and other costs are not included.
- Kyde membership: three months of Kyde Premium, applied to each winning team member’s account. No cash value.
- Barry’s class: one class credit per winning team member, for new Barry’s customers only, subject to Barry’s own terms and availability. Barry’s is not a sponsor of, and is not affiliated with, the Challenge.
- Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash and are not transferable. Kyde may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a listed prize becomes unavailable. Any taxes on prizes are the winner’s responsibility.
- A prize that is unclaimed 30 days after we contact the winner may be forfeited.
6. Your data
Standings show team names, runner names as set in the app, scores and club-day counts to everyone in the club. Kyde uses run data from the Challenge as described in our Privacy Policy. A runner can leave the Challenge at any time by leaving the club; their past contribution to the team’s score stays.
7. Running safely
You run at your own risk. Kyde does not organise club runs, is not responsible for the conduct of clubs or their members, and is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from taking part in the Challenge or in any club run. Club owners may require members to sign a waiver in the app before checking in; that waiver is between the member and the club.
8. Changes and cancellation
Kyde may change these rules, the scoring, the dates or the prizes, or cancel the Challenge, if it becomes necessary for reasons outside our reasonable control or to keep the Challenge fair. We will announce any change in the app and on this page.
